Because of Tony Morris, I am a stronger, healthier, happier person today. Tony instilled in me a passion for physical fitness, and a dedication to mind-body-soul wellness. He inspires me to be better in every possible way.
I started working out with Tony in the fall of 2010. I had been through a rough patch: a bad break-up, and a career that was sputtering. I had been going to the gym off and on for years, but it always seemed like a grind. I wanted a trainer to help me achieve the basics: lose the fat, put on some muscle, get advice on my diet, etc. I got so much more working out with Tony.
Tony has incredible energy and enthusiasm for healthy living, which was contagious. He is a gifted teacher, and every session was a learning experience. We would talk together about goals and the best way to meet them, and then how to take those goals even further. Working out with Tony is about so much more than lifting weights — he is focused on mind, body, and soul, and a deeper definition of what it means to be healthy. But let me be clear: we would work those weights HARD — Tony taught me that a set which was “good enough” was NEVER good enough. Tony made me want to do my best — come prepared, focused, and ready to give it 110 percent – total muscle failure. And I would want to give Tony 110 percent with every rep, every set, not because he barked at me like other trainers (he NEVER did that). The effort and enthusiasm to push it to the max came from inside me, all because Tony helped me understand how all this hard work was making me healthier and happier. And it was. I began to see and feel solid results, and genuinely looked forward to our next session. I was motivated, not depressed anymore, optimistic and eager to keep progressing forward. This is because of Tony Morris. The gym became a place where progress happened, a place that made me happier, and so it became a significant part of my daily and weekly routine. I never will “just go to the gym” in a half-assed way ever again. Tony was also focused on what I was doing beyond our workouts to achieve a healthier, happier life, encouraging me to pursue yoga, hikes, running, and biking. He taught me a lot about proper diet and how to eat properly to maximize my workouts before and after. Not just my physique and my health improved training with Tony, but my quality of life improved, week after week, month after month.
I’m in my mid-40s now, and I’ve never looked better. Or eaten better. Or felt more optimistic about life, and equipped to handle what may come my way. After a year-and-a-half, I got offered an amazing job opportunity and moved to the east coast. I had to leave my life in LA, and saying goodbye to Tony was one of the hardest parts of that process. I believe 100 percent that training with Tony Morris was a critical part of turning my life around, and changing it for the better. I am indebted to Tony for that, and I will always be grateful for the amazing journey we took together!
